Fundraising & Public Engagement Activities
As our source of funds depends almost entirely on individual and corporate support, our regular fundraising and public engagement events help to educate the public about who we are, and maintain a smooth fund inflow for Hospis Malaysia. You can participate as a supporter, or you can create your own fundraising event. It does not matter if you are an individual, a group, a business entity, a school, or other organisations — anyone can get involved.
Started in 2001, the Annual Charity Treasure Hunt is Hospis Malaysia’s oldest fundraising tradition which has been our renowned avenue to create public awareness on hospice and palliative care. Each year, participants hunt across deep trail of mysteries to solve puzzles along iconic routes in Malaysia and lucky winners are rewarded with attractive sponsored prizes.
Over the years, this event has received much attention from major media partners and hundreds of treasure hunters which helped us to ensure a stable fund inflow. If you are interested to support our Annual Charity Treasure Hunt, you can contribute through corporate sponsorship or join as a participant. Your contribution could go a long way in making our event a success.
Corporate Sponsorship
- Prize Sponsorship: Each winning team consists of 4 members. You can contribute prizes that may come in any products or goods of your choice.
- Major Sponsorship: As a major sponsor, your contribution will be reflected with the organisation’s logo on our printed materials and collaterals.
Be a Participant
This event has served as an ideal avenue for various organisations to fulfill their corporate social responsibility (CSR) plans by involving their staff in the hunt. Each team requires 2 to 4 members. By joining as a participant, you can enjoy a good time with other members as well as showing your support for a noble cause.
Hospis Malaysia’s Charity Bazaar is held annually to raise funds in supporting the work that we do. Shoppers can find plenty of craft goods, delicious food, lovely accessories, and other interesting items on sale. Shoppers can also participate in lucky draws and stand a chance to win sponsored prizes from our partners.
In the words of an English humanitarian, Terry Waite, “Music has the capacity to breathe harmony into the soul. The Hospice Movement brings harmony to those in pain and distress. Through ‘Voices for Hospices’, you can contribute to that most worthwhile of tasks. Please give your support and help bring greater harmony to a troubled world.”
Voices for Hospices is one of Hospis Malaysia’s major fundraising and public engagement events. It is part of the world’s largest simultaneous singing event that aims to celebrate and support hospice as well as palliative care causes across the globe. Usually held in theatres, concert halls, or hotels, this event also gives the opportunity for patients with terminal illnesses, their families, and carers to speak on hospice and palliative care.
Voices for Hospices is held biennially as an opportunity for Hospis Malaysia to engage with the public to create greater awareness and raise funds. During this event, participants get to enjoy a three-course dinner while being entertained by a dazzling musical performance. They can also participate in a raffle draw and join a silent auction.
Drop by our office sometime, and at the right side of our lobby, you will notice a striking wall feature filled with illustrated bricks. The wall is customised with block-sized spaces to fit colourful, glazed clay bricks. Every brick brings a unique impression as these bricks are done by different individuals — each being engraved with different names, messages, and illustrations.
These bricks are engraved by individuals who have made a donation to Hospis Malaysia as part of the organisation’s Donate A Brick Project. With a minimum donation of RM1,000 , you are entitled to one personalised clay brick that will fit into one slot of the wall. The donation will be channeled towards further developing our services as a leading provider for professional palliative care in Malaysia. Anyone can be a donor for this project. Donations made for this project are tax exempted.
Donors will be given a damp clay template to illustrate a brick so they can draft the design. With a sharp instrument such as the end of a pencil, you can illustrate your desired design on the clay template. The clay is quite firm, so some pressure is needed to engrave your artwork or messages.
If you wish to write a message, we request that the words to be written along the lines of hope and inspiration. This is simply because it aligns with the ethos of hospice care, such as “Live Well”, “In Everything Give Thanks”, and “Hope and Peace”.
Once donors are satisfied with the brick’s design, the brick will be glazed and fired before it is mounted into the wall. Download this FORM and submit to pr@hospismalaysia.org
