Hospis Malaysia provides palliative care to patients and their carers in the community. The goal of palliative care is to improve the quality of life of patients with life-limiting illnesses. We are looking for motivated individuals to provide evidence-based physiotherapy (PT) / occupational therapy (OT) services to palliative care patients in the community focusing on adaptation and rehabilitation.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • As part of the multi-disciplinary clinical team, contribute to the holistic assessment of patients and their carers in their home and develop a holistic management plan
  • To undertake PT/OT assessment, addressing the patient’s physical, psychological and functional skills.
  • Identify the abilities and needs for patients and carers plan, implement and evaluate the care provided.
  • Help patient identify their goals and plan treatment accordingly
  • Maintain a high standard of documentation of clinical assessment and interventions in the patients notes to ensure the entire team are up to date with the patient’s condition and care plan
  • Be involved in the organisation’s teaching and training programmes when required
  • Be involved in the organisation’s audit of clinical care when required
  • Remain up-to-date on developments nationally and internationally in physiotherapy / occupational therapy related to palliative care

The goal of palliative care is to improve the quality of life of patients with life-limiting illnesses willing to be trained and equip themselves with relevant palliative care competencies to enable them to deliver good palliative care to patients and their families in the community

 

Skills Required

  • Knowledgeable, skilled and compassionate
  • Good communication skills & an understanding of the concerns of patients and families facing a life-limiting illness
  • Positive learning aptitude and interest in people
  • Prior experience in oncology and palliative care will be an advantage
  • Extensive training will be provided

 

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Nursing
  • Registered with the Malaysian Nursing Board
  • Able to write and speak in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Ability to speak in other local dialects would be advantageous
  • Minimum 2 years of working experience in a related field
  • Possess a valid driving license and willing to travel within the Klang Valley

Hospis Malaysia provides palliative care to patients and their carers in the community. The goal of palliative care is to improve the quality of life of patients with life-limiting illnesses. The role of a Medical Officer/Doctor is to work with the palliative care team to enhance the care for such patients. We are looking for motivated medical practitioners to provide holistic pain and symptom management to patients in their homes and to teach their informal carers to care for their loved ones when they require medical assistance.

 

Skills Required

  • Knowledgeable, skilled and compassionate
  • Good communication skills & an understanding of the concerns of patients and families facing a life-limiting illness
  • Prior experience in oncology and palliative care will be an advantage.
  • Holistic assessment skills to identify patients priorities and the underlying causes of their symptoms.
  • Plan management to address patients priorities and concerns
  • Provide appropriate information for patients and caregivers regarding their condition.
  • Ensure timely follow-up of patients
  • Dressing wounds (pressure wounds, fungating wounds)
  • Changing catheters and nasogastric tubes

 

Job Requirements

  • Possess a Medical Degree (MBBS/MD or any equivalent) from a recognized institution
  • Registered with the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) and possess valid Annual Practicing Certificate (APC)
  • Able to write and speak in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Ability to speak in other local dialects would be advantageous
  • Minimum 2 years of working experience in a related field
  • Possess a valid driving license and willing to travel within the Klang Valley

Hospis Malaysia is the largest home-based palliative care service in Malaysia. In line with integrating rehabilitation into patient service, we are now seeking for a highly motivated, compassionate and disciplined individual to join our clinical team. The patient care assistant or physiotherapy aide will work under the direction and guidance of a physiotherapist or occupational therapist to support provision of rehabilitation in our palliative care population.

Key Responsibilities

  • To assist therapists in providing physiotherapy or occupational therapy treatment plans
  • To supervise therapeutic activities as directed by the therapist
  • To use appropriate methods of communication to build rapport with patients and families
  • To communicate effectively and collaboratively with other team members to ensure delivery of a coordinated service
  • To undertake clerical duties including administrative duties as directed by the therapist
  • To work within limits of own competence and not to engage in activities outside of scope of practice
  • Ensure patients’ safety at all times, knowing when to ask for help from qualified therapist


Requirements

  • Hold a driver’s license and own transport – this job requires driving to patients’ home
  • Good communication skills to interact with patients, family or caregivers, clinical team
  • Good organization skills
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Demonstrates a proactive attitude towards learning and maintains a high level of discipline in completing tasks
  • Minimum Diploma in any relevant field such as Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy, Medical Assistant, Sports Science
  • No experience necessary as successful candidate is required to undergo on-the-job training
