Council

Headed by the Chairman, the Council act as trustees of the funds received from the public and the corporate sector. Policies and long-term strategies for Hospis Malaysia are decided by the Council, who also take on the responsibility of ensuring that the organisation adheres to proper governing policies. The Council meets regularly to discuss relevant issues and the meeting of governing policies.

Dato' Kathleen Chew Wai Lin

Dato' Kathleen Chew Wai Lin

Chairman
Dato’ Kathleen Chew is the Group Legal Adviser of YTL Corporation Berhad. She holds a LL.B (Hons) Degree from the University of Birmingham and is a member of the English Bar and the Malaysia Bar. Prior to joining YTL, she was a partner in the law firm of Abdul Aziz, Ong & Co in Kuala Lumpur.

Dato’ Kathleen is the Chairperson of Alpha Malaysia, a non-denominational Christian organization, and a board member the Malaysian Collective Impact Initiative Bhd. She also takes an active interest in education and sits on the board Global Education Leaders Malaysia, Dignity for Children Foundation, and is on the Board of Governors of the Assunta Secondary School and the Board of Trustees of the Benenden School Trust in the UK.

She is married to Dato’ Yeoh Seok Hong and has seven lovely children.

Dr Ong Hock Chye

Treasurer
Dr Ong Hock Chye has over 30 years of broad-based international experience in governance, risk, and internal control at the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank, the United Nations Development Programme and Ernst & Young at senior levels. He holds a doctorate in auditing from the Universiti Sains Malaysia with professional certifications in auditing and accounting. Hock-Chye is a founding member of AuditWithoutWalls!, an online knowledge-sharing platform for auditors. He is also an advisory board member of the Continuous Auditing and Reporting Lab, Rutgers University in New Jersey, USA, and an Audit and Oversight Committee member of the World Meteorological Organization, a United Nations agency in Geneva, Switzerland. Before retiring in September 2020, Hock-Chye was the Auditor General of the Asian Development Bank headquarters in the Philippines.
Ms. Lim Wai Yee

Ms. Lim Wai Yee

Secretary
Wai Yee has more than 25 years experience in brand building, integrated marketing communications and customer relationship management, and currently runs her own boutique creative agency, Smalltimer Sdn Bhd.

Her involvement with Hospis Malaysia started in 2014 when she led her team to develop a campaign to create greater awareness for palliative care through the introduction of the palliative care symbol. Wai Yee is a strong advocate for ensuring wider knowledge of palliative care and how it can benefit patients and their caregivers when professionally delivered with good clinical practices.

Professor Dr Khoo Ee Ming

Council Member
Professor Dr Ee Ming Khoo graduated from St. George’s Hospital Medical School, University of London, UK, and is a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners. She is an Honorary Professor at the Department of Primary Care Medicine, University of Malaya and is a Fellow of the Academy of Family Physicians Malaysia and Academy of Medicine Malaysia.

Professor Khoo is an active researcher with research collaborations with the University of Edinburgh (RESPIRE), Clinical Research Centre Malaysia and the Institute of Health System Research Malaysia, amongst others. She holds numerous lead positions in groups with research interest in primary care and respiratory health such as President Elect for the International Primary Care Respiratory Group, partner Lead in the NIHR Global Health Research Unit on Respiratory Health (RESPIRE) and Academic Lead of the Asia-Pacific Academic Primary Care Group.

She has published more than 100 peer reviewed journal papers and books, and is a member of the working group in several national Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG). She is a member of the Editorial Board/Associate Editor for several journals.

She is also an External Examiner to numerous Family Medicine Postgraduate Professional examination bodies in Malaysia, Singapore and the Middle East.

Ehon Chan Yee Hon

Council Member
Ehon is a Partner at Retrospective Discovery LLP, a consultancy dedicated to fostering innovation and productivity in organizations. With 13 years of experience across all 3 sectors, Ehon’s contributions extend to shaping national policies, including social enterprise accreditation and social procurement frameworks in Malaysia, Pakistan and Bangladesh. He led the development of Malaysia’s Social Enterprise Blueprint and Sarawak’s Digital Economy Strategy. As a consultant, he has collaborated with renowned organisations such as Virgin Unite, UNICEF, UNDP and the Queensland Department of Communities. Ehon’s commitment to social impact is evident in his co-founding of Hub Australia, a leading coworking space provider, and wearespur, a not-for-profit organization. He has held leadership and Board positions in various sectors globally, including roles with Sarawak Multimedia Authority, Movember Foundation and Bendigo & Adelaide Bank.
Mr. Irvin Menezes

Mr. Irvin Menezes

Council Member
Mr. Irvin Menezes is a Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers with over 25 years as an assurance and business advisor.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales, a Member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) and a Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).

Mr. Irvin Menezes is also Chairman of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants’ Financial Statements Review Committee and MIA’s Representative on the Interview Panel for Approved Company Auditors assessment.
