For thousands of years, exotic plants have been used in various ways to make people healthier and to help them live longer and more effective lives. Ulam, a Malay word used to describe fresh vegetables gathered from natural habitats, is said to be amongst one of these plants that are rich in health and therapeutic benefits.
Ulam – Salad Herbs of Malaysia is an elegant coffee table book that features a hundred of Malaysia’s exquisite herbs and salads, uniquely used in Malaysian meals. This book, a true cornucopia, is packed with elaborate pictorial illustrations of various herbs with their botanical names and therapeutic values. It has garnered international recognition upon being selected as one of the 50 Best Malaysian Titles for International Rights 2011 by the National Book Council of Malaysia, and was subsequently exhibited at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2011.
The publication of this book was conceptualised by Dato’ Mak Kok of Makok Group of Companies, an ulam lover himself, who desired for this book to inspire the rediscovery of an integral part of the Malaysian culinary culture. As part of their CSR initiative, the Makok Group of Companies commissioned the publishing of this book, and 100 copies has been donated to Hospis Malaysia.
Ulam – Salad Herbs of Malaysia is available for sale now from Hospis Malaysia at RM 200.
Note: Delivery will be subject to postage charges.
