Most patients succumb to their life - limiting illness despite the best of advanced medical interventions and the burden of suffering may cause despair to patients and their families. This workshop addresses how to deal with issues of suffering as many may know how to give hope when all curative treatment becomes futile.
For this workshop, we are bringing in two international facilitators from New Zealand, Dr Susan Marsden, a Palliative Care Consultant with a background in Radiation Oncologist and Ms Liese Groot-Alberts, a professional Grief Therapist to address the above issues. This workshop is suitable for doctors, senior clinicans, nurses, psychologists, counsellors and especially those involved in making crucial decisions when the transitions from cure, to prolonging survival and palliation becomes the aims of holistic patient - centred care.
