Why do we need a new building?

"Their thoughts were built

into the bricks..."

Dame Cecily Saunders, founder of modern hospice,
on friends who joined the fundraising for the building of St. Christopher’s Hospice, UK.

Buildings, depending on the dreams that form them, are often powerhouses of immense depth, intense passion and blazing tenacity.  And as that depth, passion and tenacity grow, it's only right that the physical building too follows suit…

When Hospis Malaysia started operating from our current building, about 300 patients were referred to us. A hospice with offices, a conference room, and a daycare centre that could seat about 30 people comfortably, that would be swiftly transformed into a "training area" whenever workshops were conducted, did not pose a problem during the earlier days. But as we started experiencing drastic increase in the number of patients referred to us, we realised that the present building is no longer able to support the demands of the modern palliative care service that Hospis Malaysia constantly strives to provide. And thus came into blueprint, the plan for a new extension of the present building.

Being a charitable organization that provides free service, we need support to make our vision for this new building materialize. Take it as an excellent opportunity to your bit for the society - as giving for someone you could probably have known at some point of your life.
